About
Most of my childhood was spent outdoors as I was an only child raised by my suddenly widowed Mother on a farm.  I was in charge of collecting eggs from the chickens, and feeding the cows.  My pig in 4-H was named "Bacon" and I sold him at the state fair and used the money to buy stickers and leg-warmers.  I guess you could tell I wasn't going to be a vet but rather a business woman or a fashionista.  Unlike my daughter, who has always been obsessed with animals and used to shed a couple tears if she saw a man with a "homeless vet" sign.  She was sure he had "given everything to the animals."  So cute!

After graduating from college I knew I wanted to use my voice and wit to help and inspire others.  I started law school and motivational writing but knew my calling was in radio and television. It is not an easy industry to get into, but it is very rewarding. Their is something great about spreading positive energy.  If you can make someone laugh in the morning then they will be nicer to everyone they encounter, and so on.

My biggest job, however, is the one of Mother.  My 11-year-old is very bright and a constant crack-up.  We laugh and smile all day.  Being a good Mom has been hard on my career at times, most recently when I had to turn down my dream job (because it was in a City not dreamy for raising kids).  But it is all those small decisions that make up your life and your character.  I always tell her to take chances and take in the view.
